How do I use iTunes File Sharing

Refer to this article by Apple: iOS: About File Sharing

How do I add files using "Open in..."?

In the Mail app, tap on the PDF attachment to see a preview of the PDF.   Tap on the Actions button the upper right hand corner of the toolbar, and then tap on the "Open in…" menu item.

Scroll the list until neu.Annotate is shown.  Tap on neu.Annotate.  See below.

This will open a copy of the PDF attachment in neu.Annotate.

Many other apps, such as Safari, have an “Open in” menu item that allows a PDF to be open in neu.Annotate.

Why is my app not listed in the "Open in..." menu list?

The "Open in..." menu list is limited to 10 apps. This list is scrollable. If an installed app does not appear in this list, the first thing is to try scrolling the list. If there are already 10 apps in this list, the remedy is to delete one of the apps that does appear in the list that you no longer need.

Sometimes it may be necessasary to restart you iOS device or to reinstall the app.

How can I backup my app's content?

From the home screen, tap on the action action icon, select Backup.

This places a backup of all the app's contents to a file named <appname>.neubak; "neuNotes.neubak" for example. The file is accessible via iTunes File Sharing which you can use to copy the backup file to your computer for safe-keeping.

How can I restore my app's content from a backup?

From the home screen, tap on the action action icon, select Restore.

This restores the contents from a backup file named <appname>.neubak; "neuNotes.neubak" for example. The file is accessible via iTunes File Sharing which you can use to copy the backup file from your computer to the app.

Only content that does not already exists in the app will be restored; duplicates content is ignored.

  4. On device2, perform a restore.

How can I move an app's content from a free app to a paid app?

  2. Using iTunes File Sharing, copy the backup file to your computer and then to the paid ("+") app
  3. In the paid app, perform restore

Known Issues

neu.Notes+: Page size is incorrect after updating to V1.8

Page sizes previous to V1.8 incorrectly used 163 DPI; the correct DPI is 72. This causes pages created before V1.8 to be 2.264 times smaller than they should be. For example, this is a 8.5 x 11 inch page created before V1.8:

To fix this problem, create a new page size that adjusts for the incorrect DPI:

  1. Tap on the Actions icon
  2. Select "Set Page Size" from the menu

  3. Tap on the "+" icon in the lower right to create a custom page size

  4. Change the page size name so it includes "163 DPI"
  5. Change the width to be 2.264 times the current value (the height will be adjusted automatically)

  6. Tap on "Page Size" in the upper left and the new page size will be set for this notebook.

For additional notebooks of the same page size, simply select the newly create page size.
